MySPOR Forum on Medicine Access Scheme (MASc) - Advancing Patient Access to Innovative Medicines through Access Schemes

On 13 July 2024, our society organised half-day seminar on Medicines Access Scheme (MASc). Case of Gene Therapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy was discussed in the panel discussion attended by members of the association, MOH senior officers and representatives from the pharma industries. We discussed in great length and concluded that it is almost impossible to bring in costly but effective and innovative interventions through MASc to our health system in the absence of a functioning National Health Financing Scheme as a reliable source of funding in health sector. This should be given the priority by our policy makers in the proposed health reform.
